Remzi Lani is the Executive Director of the Albanian Media Institute. He has a long carrier in journalism: Zeri i Rinise (Tirana), El Mundo (Madrid), Zeri (Pristina); Alternative Information Network etc. He is author of various articles on Balkan affairs for different local and foreign papers and magazines such as: El Mundo‑ Madrid, The Guardian ‑ London, Quimera ‑ Barcelona, The International Spectator ‑ Rome, Futuribili‑ Trieste, Fokus ‑ Skopje, Vreme‑Belgrade, Osllobogjenie ‑ Sarajevo, Monitor ‑ Podgorica, War Report ‑ London, Transition-Prague, Transitions-Brussels.
He is member of European Council for Foreign Relations and member of the Board of WAN-IFRA. He served as member of the Unesco Jury of El Cano World Press Freedom Prize, member of the board of Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) etc. He has been working on media freedom in Yemen, Mozambique, Zimbabve, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Zwaziland, Bostwana, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia etc.
He was guest lecturer at Klagenfurt University (Austria), Otawa University (Canada), Windhoek Politechnic (Namibia). He served as an expert for the International Commission on the Balkans (2004), headed by Gulliano Amato. He is the winner of Busek Award for Good Understanding and Cooperation in South East Europe.
