David Walmsley is the editor-in-chief of The Globe and Mail, based in Toronto, Canada. He is the deputy president of the World Editor’s Forum, Wan-Ifra. David sits on the steering committee of the Sir Harold Evans Global Fellowship at Durham University, England for early career journalists. He is a trustee of the Arthur F Burns Fellowship, the longest running fellowship of the International Center for Journalists. The work allows journalists aged under 36 to work in Germany, Canada and the US and to share a better understanding of European and North American issues.

David is an advisor to the Digital Media Zone, Toronto Metropolitan University, the world’s number one university-based tech business incubator and is an advisor to the Center for News, Technology and Innovation, a recently launched global think tank on the intersection of news and tech. David is also a trustee of the Long Run Institute, an independent, non-profit forum providing insights from the historical analysis of long-run forces and trends. During his editorship at The Globe, the news organization has won the Michener Award for Public Service Journalism, Canada’s Pulitzer, five times.
