Covid-19 and Journalism

THOMAS KENT, Adjunct Associate Professor of International & Public Affairs at Columbia University:

"The tools of journalism constantly change, yet its job is always the same. Journalism seeks to hold up a mirror for the world to see what it truly looks like: its beauty, its accomplishments, its suffering and injustices.

Our job is to paint a picture of the world as it is, but also to hold open a door to what it could be. We should report not only on problems but possible solutions; not only on those who do evil, but on those who do good. In this way we mirror the true human condition."
