PRESS RELEASE
June 1st, 2026
June 1 is the launch date for the 8th annual edition of the Fetisov Journalism Awards, the world’s leading global journalism prize, which honours reporters and editors who hold power to account and make a difference to peoples’ lives.
“Our prize celebrates heroes of journalism,” said Aidan White, FJA General Director. “FJA winners set the standard for quality, ethics and truth-telling. They show that journalism can make the world a better place.”
The FJA is free to enter and open to journalists, working as individuals or in teams, from any country.
Entries can be submitted for any of the four categories:
- Investigative Journalism
- Excellence in Environmental Journalism
- Outstanding Contribution to Peace
- Contribution to Civil Rights
The selection of winners will be decided by an international jury and expert group comprising distinguished reporters, editors and media figures from all parts of the world.
The overall prize fund for this competition is 520,000 CHF. Three winners in each category share a monetary prize of 130,000 CHF (including taxes, as stipulated by the legislation in force) and will be announced at a gala celebration planned for April next year in Cyprus.
- The first prize winner receives 100,000 CHF
- The second prize winner receives 20,000 CHF
- The third prize winner receives 10,000 CHF
Since it was launched in 2019 the number of entries to the FJA has grown steadily, and it has to date honoured more than 200 reporters and investigators from more than 100 countries.
“Their journalism is a force for democracy and justice,” said Aidan White, “We believe that if brave journalism goes unrewarded, it goes unprotected. That is why we seek it out, provide funding for it, and amplify it for others to appreciate.
Our annual global competition, with its significant monetary prizes, and publication of winners' work, ensures we connect journalists who bravely tell stories that the public need to know.”
