FJA 2025 Call for Entries

Journalism’s richest prize, celebrating world class reporting in a global campaign for public interest news and information

Journalists and news media around the world are invited to take part in the latest round of the Fetisov Journalism Awards – the world’s richest news media prize.

Journalists from anywhere in the world are invited to submit stories in four distinct categories: Investigative Journalism, Outstanding Contribution to Peace, Excellence in Environmental Journalism and Contribution to Civil Rights.

In a uniquely independent process, a panel of international journalists and media professionals choose the winning stories and distribute a prize fund of 520,000 Swiss Francs (around $640,000 US).

“The FJA is a unique global prize,” said Aidan White, the FJA Honorary Advisor. “It is awarded by journalists to journalists with no influence from corporate, political or special interests.”

“The challenges facing journalism and democracy today are unprecedented,” said White. “The FJA is an opportunity to celebrate those who hold the powerful to account and tell the truth without compromise. This journalism is needed more than ever.”

The deadline for entries is September 15th, 2025 and full details of how to enter can be found at https://fjawards.com/how-to-enter. The announcement of the shortlist of winners will be made at the end of the year and the award winners will be revealed at an international media celebration and award ceremony on April 22nd, 2026.

The FJA was launched six years ago with the support of international media support groups including the European Federation of Journalists, the International Press Institute, Reporters without Borders and the Ethical Journalism Network.

The 2024 winners announced in Dubai in April, included entries from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Senegal, Peru, the US, UK, and Venezuela.

The FJA is supported by the Fetisov Charitable Foundation established in Switzerland by the family of Gleb Fetisov, a Russian businessman, philanthropist and film producer.

“Our winners are all ambassadors for the best of journalism,” said White, “and this year we plan a series of new activities including ethics training and editorial debates to promote their work and the role that they play in enriching the lives of others.”

At this year’s awards event an FJA Network of Experts and Winners was formed which will oversee the expansion of the FJA in the coming years.

“Our winners and experts are guarantors of excellence, independence and professionalism in FJA work,” said White. “They represent fearless journalists who will strive to protect independent news media and the peoples’ right to know. The future of journalism is safe in their hands.”
