Aidan White, Editor of FJA Annual 2020, Honorary Advisor to the Fetisov Charitable Foundation and the Fetisov Journalism Awards, Founder and President of the Ethical Journalism Network:

"This is the second annual report of the world’s richest journalism prize, which launched in 2019. It provides evidence in abundance that this award is not just about financial rewards - it is primarily about the promotion of informed and committed journalism and rewarding, through peer recognition, the best examples of stylish and fact-based intelligence about the world around us. The winners this year provide more good news for the state of journalism worldwide. They come from a pool of entries that provide glittering examples of the excellence and public purpose to be found in journalism around the globe."

In 2020, three hundred stories from 77 countries were submitted for the worldwide competition. 35 best entries were selected for the shortlist by FJA Expert Council. The 12 winning projects of the Fetisov Journalism Awards 2020 defined by FJA Jury include 7 individual entries (from India, Turkey, Switzerland, Nigeria and the US) and 5 collaborative projects produced by the teams of journalists from Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. On April 22nd, 2021 the winners were honoured at the second Fetisov Journalism Awards ceremony held in Zurich, Switzerland.

Gleb Fetisov, Founder of the Fetisov Journalism Awards:

"The award is conceived from a worldwide search for, and an opportunity to find, celebrate and support worthy and courageous journalists. The award is meant to give them courage, standing and visibility, to ensure that the journalistic community and audiences in different countries know about them, what they write, and how courageous and focused they are in carrying forth truth and enlightenment."

The 2020 FJA annual publication is a collection of the winning stories and shortlisted entries in the four categories of the Fetisov Journalism Awards 2020: Outstanding Investigative Reporting, Outstanding Contribution to Peace, Contribution to Civil Rights, and Excellence in Environmental Journalism. The publication also includes an editor's report that gives a brief overview of the selection process, as well as messages from FJA Jury and Expert panels.
