Hundreds of entries from around the world in record year for the Fetisov Journalism Awards

More than 500 of the world’s leading journalists and media have entered this year’s competition for the Fetisov Journalism Awards.

“It’s another record year for the FJA,” said Aidan White, FJA General Director. “The entries this year illustrate the best of global journalism from 85 countries.”

The winners of the Fetisov Journalism Awards share an annual prize fund of CHF 520,000, recognizing outstanding journalism.

This year’s entries have been submitted in four categories:

  • Outstanding Investigative Reporting
  • Excellence in Environmental Journalism
  • Outstanding Contribution to Peace
  • Contribution to Civil Rights

“Each year we are humbled by the quality, commitment, and professionalism of our entries,” said White. “Wherever there is a struggle for voices to be heard, for democracy in action and for an end to injustice, journalists are at work telling stories that are life-changing.”

“It is powerful evidence that journalism plays a crucial role in keeping the flames of democracy, ethics and human rights alive in a troubled world. The FJA is proud to pay tribute to these outstanding reporters.”

He said that the FJA has to date honoured more than 250 reporters and editors from entries that have come from 148 countries around the world.

The final selection of winners is made by an international jury and expert group comprising distinguished reporters, editors and media figures from all parts of the world. They will announce a shortlist of potential winners later this year and the winners will be revealed at a gala ceremony next year.
